Attendee Demographics/Statistics

To offset the Media making up their own "statistics" as to who attends the rally (they said the 4/15 rally was made up of White, Extreme Right, Conservative, Republicans), it might be a good idea to inform everyone that we would like them to fill out a short form when they arrive.

All adults attending who are at least 18 would fill out the form. Parents would supply information for attending children under the age of 18.

Information requested: Name, City, Email address, Race, Political Affiliation, Age, Number of Children attending & their Ages.

It could be simplified by providing check boxes such as:

Race: White, Black, Hispanic, Oriental, Native American, Other
Age: 18-30, 31-45, 46-60, Over 60
Political Affiliation: Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent, Other, Not Affiliated

No, I don’t think so, at best a handout might ask if an attendee would like to be placed on a mail-list.

Okay, I agree that a form might be too much of a pain to fill out when coming to the rally, but I think something needs to be done to get an accurate count of who attends. The 4/15 rally had all kinds of numbers floating about. We need to be able to show, in some way, the actual numbers & that we are a diverse group - a true reflection of the "melting pot" that America is.

The media is determined to downplay our efforts & make us out to be "extremist kooks".

We have more of an "uphill fight" because we do not have the media behind us. We are in a "two-front" battle - protesting the stimulus package & it's ramifications & also fighting the inaccuracies of the media.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Captain told us after the event, that his men on foot and on the building estimated 5,000 people. That is coming from them, not us. It is the official estimate.

Things will be different next event. We are renting out the special events section of a park. More details will follow.
