I hear a volunteer out there!
What I would like to do is run kid friendly videos (Schoolhouse Rock: I Am Only a Bill, The Constitution etc, Red Skelton reciting the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance his teacher told him) and an interactive activity.
If we want the next generation of kids to be involved, it should be with knowlege of how our government is SUPPOSED to work.

The kids table is a great idea. We can't do the TV because of restrictions by the city of Fort Lauderdale. But surely we can come out with other ideas. If anyone is artistic, we can try creating coloring books with information about the constitution, our founding fathers, the Boston tea party, and more recent issues as well. Also we could have stickers printed for the tea party event. Any other ideas. If you would like to volunteer to help put this together. I am going to create a separate message board on here for the kids table...go there and we can all work together to delegate who is going to do what and throw some ideas around as well. Good work guys...and great ideas!
The youth is our future...my kids will be there to enjoy your efforts!

Lauren has been in touch with me and we are going to have the Kids sign a Declaration of Independence.
We can do it from the website and have the names signed directly to the document in an Old World style font, it looks very authentic. That would require a laptop with internet access and a printer. (aircard?) I am not very computer savvy, so someone with IT knowlege would be needed to help do it that way.
Second option would be to just have the Declaration printed and the kids sign in their own signature (with quill-type pens, of course)
Does anyone know a company that would give us a break on printing?
I don't know if there is seed money for this stuff. If not, I don't mind shelling some out, but if it gets to be to involved, could we ask for donations to cover costs?
Those of you volunteering who are bringing kids, it would be great for the kids to help with this.

Does anyone know a company that would give us a break on printing? How many copies are you looking for? Wayne

Good question. If there is an expectation of 5K or more, and lots are bringing kids, I think at least 500. More would be great since we have mulriple activities (different coloring pages, wordsearches, information sheets), but I will take what can be offered and be very greatful.
I am having some posters printed myself, but would love the help with the sheets.

Wayne I have an image from the National Archives, but it is a little involved to download it. I can get a copy to you, or you can try it. This is quite wonderful of you. The antique paper will do very well. Many thanks. On the National Archive website is a statement, referring to the signers that: Affixing your name to the document meant that you pledged your life, your fortune, and your sacred honor to the cause of freedom.Your gesture will help bring this message to our children, thank you again.
